I am an intern in the Audit department here at Mueller. I am set to graduate from Illinois State University (the Harvard of the Midwest) in May of 2019 with a Bachelor’s of Science in Financial Accounting as well as Finance. With these two degrees I will have my 150 credit hours needed to sit for the CPA exam. The reason I chose the accounting field is because I’ve always had an interest in business and during high school, my accounting instructor described accounting as the language of business. So what better way to gain a greater understanding of business than study the language of it?

Accepting the internship here at Mueller has easily been one of the best decisions I have made for my professional career and myself. I am surrounded by coworkers who want to see me succeed in this field and who are there for support whenever needed. Every day I am able to come in with a smile on my face because I genuinely enjoy coming into work and working with the people that I do. I am also enjoying the work I am doing because every day I am touching different aspects of an audit and facing new challenges.

This internship has left me anxious and excited to see what the future of my accounting career has in store. I would like nothing more than if my future included working at Mueller post-graduation.
